In an effort to erase piles of debt, I've picked up a carpentry gig over the weekends. The part time job serves its purpose in a variety of ways, but most importantly it allows me the opportunity to swing a hammer and release some pent-up frustrations from the work week. It also makes the arrival of Monday morning seem like a holiday. Seriously, who wouldn't want to sit in air conditioning and write all day as opposed to putting flooring down in a 100 degree attic?
Carpentry is a great hobby for a writer. You toe the fine line of filling yourself with pride with having done something with your hands, and at the same time thank the interstellar gods of education that Monday morning you won't have to pick slivers out of your eyelids. It's a rewarding feeling, and I would recommend the experience to all.
Now, the weekend gig isn't all it's cracked up to be. My own house is in serious need of some sweet, sweet love. Finding time for that project has proven to be difficult.

Never seen it. Now that I'm going through "The Wire" withdrawals, I'll have to check it out.
If you can, best to start from the beginning.
