This first logo for Mountain Scales, Inc. is (obviously) for a scale company located in Denver. The "o" in Mountain is from their old logo. They were using it along with a script font for their name.

The second logo, Operation de Novo, is for an organization that subcontracts through the criminal justice system to work with people who are either facing a jail sentence or have recently gotten out and want a second chance.

I have quite a bit of additional work that I need feedback on, but lets just take this a few at a time!

Is there a way to simplify these to make them more iconic? They seem a bit too cumbersome.
For the 'Mountain' logo: I like the 'O' that you kept from the old logo. The big block of brown filling in the 'M' isn't really doing anything for me, though. It's very weighty.
For the 'de Novo' logo: I like the colors and the scale. I think you could disconnect the P and D and push 'Operation' to the left and 'de Novo' to the right so that the leaf on the final 'O' can really stand out.
Thanks mplsminx, for your comments. I'm going to try some of your suggestions to see what they would look like.
Hopefully there will be others posting their opinions as well.
