The idea:

A sketch that took Brock Davis 3 hours, only to be erased in 10 seconds.

Hi,
For this contest I thought a lot about the natural process of drawing. I wanted to do something that would get all the dirt in there, the smears and smudges, the eraser bits, the spontaneity and imperfection that comes from sketching. I really wanted to figure out a way to put emphasis on the eraser. So I started messing around with the idea of drawing something that is obsolete, and using the eraser to work with this idea. Since I've been on a kick for drawing animals lately, I decided to sketch a Caspian Tiger. The Caspian Tiger is one of three modern extinct tigers. The last known Caspian was shot in 1947, but the exact date of extinction is unknown. The idea would be to draw a detailed pencil sketch of the tiger, and then after it was drawn, to erase pretty much all of it and leave the smudges and bits on the design.

So, that's what I did, I stopped erasing when I got to the eyes and then I used a spray adhesive to keep the eraser bits on the page for scanning the image.
