There's a reason snakes give me the heebie jeebies. Can you imagine being alone and the constricting begins? Gah.
VIRGINIA BEACH -- A young woman apparently was strangled to death by her 13-foot pet python while trying to administer medication to it, police said.
The victim, 25-year-old Amanda Ruth Black, was found by her husband late Tuesday night, lying on the floor in front of a large, empty snake cage in an upstairs bedroom of her Virginia Beach home, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said.
Animal control officers found her large reticulated python elsewhere in the room. The snake was "extremely agitated, and required the force of two animal control officers to restrain it," Bernstein said.
A preliminary autopsy by the state Medical Examiner's Office shows Black died of asphyxiation caused by the compression of her neck, Bernstein said, and investigators think the snake killed her by wrapping itself around her and squeezing.
Police had hoped to receive final word on the cause of death before releasing information about the case, but word of the incident was spreading too fast through the community to wait any longer. He said the python is being kept in the city animal control office.
Bernstein said Black apparently was alone and trying to administer medication to the snake. He said he had no further details.

Asphixiation by strangulation by snake is horrible way to go.
Natural selection?
Virginia Beach is one of the most horrible places I ever been. Worse than Qinhuangdao, China.
i would have liked to have seen that. but with more coils around the girl and then eaten
She was from Sonoma County, CA. That picture is not even a reticulated python, and is 2x the size of the actual snake.
I too would have liked to have seen that but with a bigger snake.
Not to death though. Just for fun.
I don't know what part of Virginia Beach you went to or if you are just a negative person, but I grew up there and think it is a great place.
