Vigilante Justice.

The scenario:

I arrive home after dancing to the Emerald City Soul Club at Lo-Fi. I grab the dog and set out to take him on a walk around the block. As I'm heading back to the apartment, a cab pulls up.

A petite woman jumps out of the cab door yelling and screaming. She's accusing the man she's with of taking her to some place she doesn't want to go. She tells him repeatedly that she wants to go back to her friends. The man gets out of the cab and begins yelling at her at the top of his lungs.

I ask the girl if she's alright. She asks me where she is and where Vela is, a nightclub/pizza joint about 6 blocks from my apartment. I point her in the direction and give her the cross streets to the club. The man repeatedly grabs her and pulls in the opposite direction. At this point the cabby is fed up and takes off.

I begin walking back towards my apartment. The girl is headed in the same direction towards the nightclub. I offer to call her another cab. The man is tailing after us, still screaming bloody murder.

I stop in front of my apartment. The couple heads down the block. I watch as their argument becomes more and more heated.

The couple stops on the end of my block. The man shoves the girl (she's tiny), she falls over. Another man walking down the sidewalk yells at him to stop and begins walking towards him. The man shoves the girl again. I start running down the street.

I run up to the man telling him chill out. He takes a swing and hits me in the cheek. He takes another swing and I duck. I line up and cold cock him in the chin. He falls over flat on his ass.

The other man high-fives me, and we walk the girl back towards my apartment building. We're standing in front of my place, when a neighbor comes out and says she's called the police. She takes the girl to her apartment to get her a ride. Just as we thought the drama was over, the woman beating douche comes running back around the corner screaming and flailing his arms. The other guy takes two steps towards him and he turns right around and begins running down the street.

I head into my apartment and crack open a beer. The cops never show.

The streets are safe. Superbeast justice served.
