The Accidental Sea.

Post apocalyptic hell-hole, or a world left alone without us? The Salton Sea is both.

This short documentary covers the rise and fall of a destination founded on human error. A saline sea created by overrun canals in the most unlikely of places. The landscape looks like something out of a sci-fi film, or a nuclear test site. Not much remains but a skeletal wasteland and a thriving Pelican population.

John Waters narrates another documentary called Plagues & Pleasures on the Salton Sea. I haven't seen it yet, but it is available on Netflix.
