10/31/11 = Jesus Ween.

I never really associated Halloween with evil. It's always been a day when you have fun dressing up with your friends and cashing in on huge quantities of high concentrated sugar. It's a day to celebrate the good will of your neighbors, even the dick down the street that wouldn't let you set up the launch ramp on his sweet, newly paved driveway.

Over the years I've dressed up in ZANY costumes like: a girl, a Knight in shining armor, Ernie of Sesame Street fame, and a character from H.R. Pufnstuf. Hardly a ghastly satan mongering ghoul in the bunch.

According to these bible thumpers, Halloween is a day to celebrate "ungodly images and evil characters." You can't make this shit up:

Every year, the world and its system have a day set aside (October 31st) to celebrate ungodly images and evil characters while Christians all over the world participate, hide or just stay quiet on Halloween day. Being a day that is widely acceptable to solicit and knock on doors, God inspired us to encourage Christians to use this day as an opportunity to spread the gospel. The days of hiding are over and we choose to take a stand for Jesus. “Evil prevails when good people do nothing”. JesusWeen is expected to become the most effective Christian outreach day ever and that is why we also call it” World Evangelism Day”.

That's some conspiracy laden fire and brimstone shit right there. Now, I'm not one to criticize another person's beliefs, but chill out bible bros, Halloween is pretty cool.

And seriously, who decided on "Jesus Ween" as a name for this thing? Isn't that the last thing you'd want your kids to celebrate?

Thanks to pal Aaron Robnett for this find. It's all I've been talking about lately.

Being raised a roman catholic, I remember discussing this in church. To me, it was always considered a religious holiday in the terms of All Saints/Hallows or the eve before, aka, all hallows eve.
