The Dude that inspired The Dude in the Coen Brothers film The Big Lebowski. Jeff Dowd is the guy the character is based on. The original Dude. He's lived an interesting life as one of the Seattle Seven, the Seattle Liberation Front members charged with "conspiracy to incite a riot" after a protest at a courthouse.

Jeff Bridges definitely nailed the character.
