Do as Quint Does.

Nobody in film quite embodies the essence of Superbeast like old Quint. A man with a personal vendetta against the leviathans that killed his overboard war buddies on the USS Indianapolis. A man who combs the island harbor like a soft-lens Ahab. A man who curses Matt Hooper's city hands that "been countin' money" all their lives.

Quint's devotion to catching the rogue man eater ultimately signals his own demise. But what a way to go out. No matter if you subscribe to the film's gory version, or the Melville-like approach taken in Benchley's novel. Both drip with briny symbolism.

So here's to Quint. A real Superbeast indeed.

My favorite cinematic character by a large margin. I've tried, for quite sometime, to get a poster of him, to no avail.

Thanks for saying what I've been thinking for years. A Superbeast indeed!

I might paint a portrait of him. Or perhaps a line art illustration will suffice.
